How to Take a Safer Approach to Gambling

Kitties, Safer Gambling week is once again here – join us on from 19th November 2020 as we look to create a conversation with players and the wider public about how to enjoy gaming safely. Kitty Bingo, as always, has some tips to help you play safe and stay safe:

  • Set a budget (and stick to it) – budgets might seem fun, but having one is a simple way to make sure you only spend what you can afford when gaming
  • Set your limits – you can set your own a Net Deposit Loss limit, which resets once a day/week/month, helping you control how much you are spending
  • Know the games – before you start playing, have a look at the games and how they work, so you know you understand them
  • Take regular breaks – if you’ve been playing for a while, switch off and get some fresh air, have a coffee or simply move around a bit
  • Know when to stop – if playing is no longer fun, or you’re upset or stressed, then it’s time to step away and do something else for a bit
  • Keep it fun – remember, gambling is for entertainment, it’s not a way to make money or solve problems, so make you sure you balance out the time you spend gaming with time spent on your responsibilities and other hobbies

If you’re worried about your gaming habits or think you have a problem, then Kitty Bingo is here to help. We have a number of tools on site, plus we have recommendations for services that offer the advice and support you need:

  • Net Deposit Loss Limits – as mentioned above, you can set daily, weekly and monthly limits are available to manage the amount of money you’re spending – to set yours, simply go to the cashier and select the ‘My Limits’ tab
  • Game Session Reminders – these are also known as Reality Checks and can help you keep track of how long you’ve been playing for each session – to set yours, go the Responsible Gaming tab in My Account
  • Take a Break – if you need to take a step back from gambling for a short period, you can apply the Take a Break option to your account, locking it for between 24 hours and 6 weeks – if you would like to Take a Break, simply go to the Responsible Gaming tab in My Account  and select the length of your break
  • Self-Exclusion – if you need a longer break from gambling, you can self-exclude from Kitty Bingo for 6 months – 5 years. This means you will be unable to access your account for that set period of time, and once it finishes we’ll discuss whether re-opening your account is the right choice for you. To self-exclude, go to the Responsible Gaming tab in My Account  and select the length of your break
  • Gamstop – if you want to block access to all gambling sites in Great Britain, then you can sign up to this national Self-Exclusion scheme. Find out more on their website: gamstop.co.uk
